Personal Website and Portfolio

Finished up the landing page for my personal website and finally got some portfolio pieces up too! Will soon be transferring blog posts to a new wordpress blog and using this tumblr just for fun and inspiring items!

Here’s to starting off 2012 right and prepping for job applications!

:)

After an entire semester of 18 credits and 30 hours of work a week, I finally have some time off to do a little apartment decorating… only a year and a half after moving in.

"Yes, there’s revolution under way among today’s kids - a good news revolution. This generation is going to rebel by behaving not worse, but better. Their life mission will not be to tear down old institutions that don’t work, but to build up new ones that do. Look closely at youth indicators, and you’ll see that Millennial attitudes and behaviors represent a sharp break from Generation X, and are running exactly counter to trends launched by the Boomers. Across the board, Millennial kids are challenging a long list of common assumptions about what “postmodern” young people are supposed to become."

Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation, Neil Howe and William Strauss

Currently doing massive research on Generation Y (The Millennials, The Echo Boomers, Gen Y… whatever you want to call us). Super interesting literature on us right now, do some reading if you get the chance. Makes me really excited to get out of school, take on the world, and make a great reputation for our generation.

And now back to this paper…

Home vs Hometown

Rock The Red (Wide) at Verizon Center

Holy never using this blog. Meh. Sorry, sorry, so busy with life, sometimes certain internet tools go off my radar. But I’m just taking this moment to write about where I’ll be tonight… the VERIZON CENTER (as seen above)! My (current home) Washington DC Caps are playing my (old) hometown NJ Devils. Eep. Can’t freakin’ wait.

Okay, peace out until next time (aka probably with some fabulous blog posts/pictures about my #NashvilleNovember trip in a week)! Cheers! xo

Thank you iCal

Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to my iCal:

Pretty sure if I didn’t micro-manage my life, I would be even more stressed out than I already am. This semester, I learned the joys of organization. I never used to do this though, until this semester (I also didn’t have a Mac until this semester so that thats) and I wonder why I never have, it has seriously saved my life all semester. Then again, I was never working 30+ hours in a semester, interning, and carrying an 18 credit work load, but that is besides the point I suppose. So here’s to iCal and saving my life. Now, if only I had an iPhone to sync this with…

What has been consuming my time lately…

So I originally really wanted to blog about this wedding I went to last weekend, but I lost my camera… eep! But other than that life has been fabulous and busy busy busy. For those who don’t know, I am a design minor. Since all my professors go on and on about content and getting myself out there, I suppose I’ll post about my latest project, that has been consuming all my time lately so I don’t ever have time to blog about fun things like weddings, with a company near and dear to my heart: Hop & Wine Beverage, the lead beer and wine distributor of DC/VA! (Don’t act like you’re surprised here)

So our assignment was to redesign a logo and create a business card, letterhead, and envelope. Redesigning the logo wasn’t too terrible, considering, well…Hop & Wine doesn’t quite even have a logo! Here’s what I came up with:

Pretty simple, straight forward, modern and classic, but it was hours and hours to get that ampersand perfect (to be honest). Now all the rest of the designs came pretty easy:

BAM. Those are the mock-ups atleast. Photog-ed print outs will come eventually, but I ended up really liking it regardless. They even looked better when actually printed!

Anyways, afterwards we were required to create a poster for the company as well. We were tasked to have one theme clearly depicted. My theme: community. Cause Hop & Wine has always been there for you, and always will!

And there it is ladies and gentleman! Try to spy your (or my) fave craft beers, cause a lot of them are represented! So, my latest design projects are finally done, I got to sleep more than 5 hours today and I’m already a little ahead of my next project which happens to be some packaging design for a new gardening/plant product (pretty lame, but what can you do..you do what your professor tells ya)! Whew.

Well, hope everyone has a great weekend ahead of them! Cheers!

Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.

You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

Steve Jobs, 1955-2011, RIP

Anyone who is in/inspires to be in the design/tech/business industry and doesn’t feel atleast a little tug at their heart over the death of Steve Jobs, well I think you need to find a new life/career path.
